Get your oven heated up to 400°F.

Mix butter, vanilla, and sugar until creamy. Add salt and flour a bit at a time, blending gently. Toss in the finely chopped nuts and stir.

Shape dough into balls about 1 inch wide by rolling in your hands.

Put in the oven for 10-12 minutes until done but still pale.

Let the cookies sit on the tray for a minute or two, then coat the warm ones in powdered sugar.

After cooling completely, cover them with powdered sugar one more time.
