Chocolate Coffee Treat (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Streusel Topping

01 - 1¼ cups all-purpose flour
02 - 6 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
03 - ⅓ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
04 - 3 tablespoons white sugar
05 - ¼ cup brown sugar
06 - 1¼ teaspoons ground cinnamon
07 - ½ teaspoon powdered ginger
08 - pinch of salt
09 - ⅓ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

→ The Cake

10 - 2 teaspoons baking powder
11 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
12 - ¼ cup brown sugar
13 - 3 large eggs, room temp
14 - 2½ cups all-purpose flour
15 - ½ teaspoon baking soda
16 - ½ teaspoon salt
17 - 1¼ cups white sugar
18 - ¾ cup room-temp butter (unsalted)
19 - 1¼ cups sour cream
20 - 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
21 - 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
22 - ½ cup walnut pieces (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - In a bowl, combine white sugar, brown sugar, spices, and a pinch of salt. Add the melted butter, stirring. Toss in the flour, chocolate, and if using, walnuts. Mix till combined.
02 - Set your oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a round cake pan (about 9-inch x 3-inch) or use a springform pan.
03 - Stir together flour, baking powder, soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
04 - Beat butter with the sugars until creamy. Slowly add eggs one by one. Mix in vanilla, sour cream, and lemon juice. Gently fold in dry ingredients, chocolate pieces, and walnuts, if desired.
05 - Spoon the batter into your pan, then sprinkle on the streusel. Bake for 45 minutes. Cover lightly with foil and bake another 40-50 minutes till done. Let it cool for 30 minutes before cutting.

# Notes:

01 - A deep 9-inch pan works best, or use two smaller ones
02 - Let ingredients come to room temp beforehand
03 - You can skip the walnuts if you'd like
