01 -
Mix 1.5 cups of the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in the mixer’s bowl. Blend in room-temp butter until the texture turns grainy.
02 -
Heat milk until it feels warm to the touch (not too hot). Add in the milk, vanilla, and lemon zest to the dry mix, stirring until wetness is even.
03 -
Add both eggs and mix for around 2 minutes. Gradually add the remaining flour until it becomes a firm dough. Knead it by hand on a floured surface for roughly 5 to 7 minutes until soft and elastic.
04 -
Coat a bowl lightly with grease, drop the dough in, and turn it to coat. Cover it up and place somewhere warm for about an hour, letting it puff up to twice the size.
05 -
Cut the dough into 8 parts. Roll each part into a rectangle (about 10x5 inches). Smear Nutella on each, sprinkle on halva and chocolate chips, then roll them up tight. Slice each roll lengthwise, twist the pieces, and tie them into knots.
06 -
Allow the knots to rest and get puffy for another 30 minutes. Pop them into a 375°F oven for 15-20 minutes, pulling them out when golden brown. Brush with the sugar glaze while they’re still hot if you want.
