Frequently Asked Questions

→ Could this be prepped in a crockpot?
Sure! Cook the meat first, then toss everything into the crockpot on low for about 2-3 hours.
→ Is it okay to swap the meats?
Absolutely. Use all beef, just sausage, or even turkey for a lighter version.
→ What’s the best way to keep this warm?
Leave it in a slow cooker on warm, or reheat in small batches as needed.
→ Can it go in the freezer?
Nope, freezing might mess with the creamy texture. It doesn't reheat well afterward.
→ What’s the spice level like?
Mostly mild, but add more jalapeños or hot sauce if you're after a kick!

06 1 pound ground sausage
07 1 pound ground beef

08 1 can (10.5 oz) tomato soup
09 1 can (10.5 oz) cheddar cheese soup
10 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
11 8 ounces cream cheese
12 32 ounces Velveeta cheese

→ Add-ins & Garnish

13 Tomatoes for garnish
14 Jalapeño peppers for garnish
15 Fresh parsley for garnish
16 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
17 1 can (16 oz) chili beans, drained
18 Tortilla chips for serving

Instructions

Step 01

In a skillet, cook the ground sausage and beef on medium heat. Stir until they're no longer pink, then get rid of the excess grease.

Step 02

Mix in garlic powder, onion powder, seasoned salt, pepper, and regular salt with the cooked meat.

Step 03

Turn the heat down to medium-low. Toss in the Velveeta, cream cheese, and all three soups. Stir everything together.

Step 04

Blend in the chili beans and the drained diced tomatoes.

Step 05

Let it simmer for 15-20 minutes while stirring once in a while. Once the cheese is melted, top with garnishes and dish up with chips.

Notes

  1. It's best to serve this while it's warm for great consistency.
  2. Make sure to drain the meat well so it’s not greasy.
  3. Stir now and then so it doesn’t stick while cooking.
